But for many children in Kenya, that opportunity is fragile. More than 1 million school-age children remain out of school, and many who enrol struggle to stay and succeed due to poverty and household instability.

Although primary education in Kenya is free, thousands of vulnerable children still fail to complete school due to poverty. Nearly 30% of children in low-income communities are unable to achieve basic literacy skills by age 10, trapping them in learning poverty and limiting their future opportunities
